Our mission goal.

We here at DLCD are committed to bringing affordable and great looking alternatives to the dollhouse collector, model railroader and miniature wargamer.
Many of our kit products use green, low cost alternatives to plastic and only require PVC glue (a.k.a. school glue) to go together.
We use Taskboard, Matboard, Backerboard and Northern Basswood. Don't let the materials fool you. These kits go together quickly and will give you years of durable enjoyment.

What's on the workbench?

I'm doing a custom job for a doll house hobbyist. She is looking for a 1/48 scale piano. This is a prototype mock-up. With a few tweaks and some more parts I'll soon be ready to make the final piece.

The downloadable catalog has been expanded!

Now every single item we make (to date) is in the newly expanded 12 page tome! OK so 12 pages hardly makes a tome but we've been open only 2 months so just hang in there as new products are quickly being developed. You can find the new catalog in the Customer Resource Folder in the side bar.

Social media and YOU.

Today I was talking with my dad and about all the ways we want to reach our customers. (Have you seen our new PDF catalog in the right hand column?) But ultimately in the end the one tripping point that came up was. "What if nobody talks back?"
Now in no way do I want people to think I'm harping or badgering them. But we have many social media avenues open and as I always say we are listening.
When I used to work in over the counter retail I could size-up a customer in a second as they approached the register. Usually with 90% accuracy as to if they were happy, gonna put the cell phone down and acknowledge my presence or if they needed something. But now as mostly an internet business I can't see the people I'm selling to. I would like to ask people to not only comment on here, but to also friend us on Facebook.
Tell us what you might be looking for in future releases. Talk to us about the workbench and prototypes we are working on. All we ask is do it in a productive manner. Cause "that looks stupid", really isn't all the helpful.
When we went to Rock Con 2 weeks ago it was incredible the input people gave us there. We were just offering the Modular Office building for the first time but had no takers. So then we started to ask why. Well as it seems it kind of looked like a parking garage instead of an office building.
So after my friends and workers talked me down from jumping off the convention center. We went back to the drawing board and came up with the design you see now.
It has been getting us some great feedback and compliments. And all because a few people told us what they thought.
Some companies just want to make what they want, and that is 100% fine. We on the other hand want your input and want your constructive criticism. Hopefully in the near future we can get some sort of forum up and running but for now we have TGN, Facebook (which is free for us to have a store page on) and our blog here with it's comments section.

So hopefully we will hear from you. We want to get to know you.
  • Do you have a gaming club?
  • What are your favorite game settings?
  • Favorite miniature scales?
  • If there was one thing you really wished a company could produce (be practical) what would it be?

Comments about the Modular Factory F001

Today on TGN a person commented on the price of item F001 and how it would be hard to cover a table with that model. Here is our reply.

"The Modular Factory is a premium kit. It is not one of the more affordable items we sell, I think it’s value is in what it has to offer.

Ease of assembly and finish. It only takes PVC glue (white school glue) to assemble. The model in our gallery was primed gray, detailed with cheap craft paints and flocked with grass and sandbox sand.

Multiple floors for those that like to fight indoors as well as in the streets.

The ability to remove floors to create a different look.

Everything in one kit. ie. the base and the decorative parts. Some kits I’ve see offer those as a separate cost.

It covers nearly a square foot and provides a large chuck of cover both in width and height."

We like to, when we can, offer replies to people comments or inquiries. We encourage people to leave comments cause we are always listening and want to hear from you.

B007a/b Assembly Instructions corrected.

It has been brought to our attention the instructions for B007 a or b were missing the visual diagrams that usually follow the text instructions. This has been corrected.

On a side note we have re-done our window, trim and facades to be tabbed to the backer board web they are on. So when you open the kit they are all nice and in order. This way you know how many are there and you shouldn't have to go hunting for the matching part in a big pile. Which means the finished model hits the table even sooner!
